Autumn fern, also known as shaggy shield fern or copper shield fern, likes organic soils in shady places and partial shade. It is especially drought-tolerant, so it will do with moderate water use. In addition, it is mostly pest and disease free, which is a great feature for garden designs with low maintenance.
This beauty is at its best in the spring. Autumn describing its colors not the season of interest. Foliage color changes with season. Scarlet spores adorn undersides of the fronds. New growth emerges metallic coppery green, turns green in summer and bronzy in fall. Height 18-24".
